Yang Yuhuan often known as Yáng Guìfēi, an imperial concubine of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, was one of China’s four beauties admired by latter people. She was commonly called “Imperial Concubine Yang (Yang Guifei). She had "a face that would make all flowers feel shameful". Yang Yuhuan was naturally beautiful and gifted in music, singing, dancing and playing lute. These made her stood out among the imperial concubines and won the emperor‘s favor.

Yang Guifei was born in the year of 719. The Emperor was so indulged in the beauty of Yang Guifei that he did not attend to his court duties, and spent all his time with Yang Guifei, singing and dancing all day long. Yang Guifei had an adopted son An Lu Shan who rebelled in 755. Emperor Tang Xuanzong, together with Imperial Concubine Yang, fled from Chang’an. When they arrived at the Mawei Slope, the army refused to march, for the army thought that the reason of this rebellion by An Lushan was that Imperial Concubine Yang’s behavior of attracting emperor ruined the state and that her cousin Yang Guozong colluded with the enemy. To appease the army, Emperor Tang Xuanzong had no choice but to order that a piece of white silk be presented to Yang Guifei, so that she could hang herself at the Mawei Slope. The Emperor wept bitterly after her death. He was so upset that he later abdicated and was succeeded by his son.
